CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Nika

Yesterday Dominick made love to me on a lounger outside by the pool.

In the open.

Where anyone could have seen us.

And I didn’t care.

Not even a little bit.

Now we were on our way to Cape Town in another plane and the man who made love to me had disappeared to become a hard faced businessman.

Hard faced and cold eyed.

Seeing him today, looking like this, it was almost impossible to believe he was the same man who had made love to me next to the pool. Or the man who held me while I slept.

He fascinated me.

There were so many sides to him, sides that I felt sure I hadn’t seen yet.

He was always careful around me, treating me with gentleness and respect.

Until we went to bed. Then he was demanding and dominant. He ordered me around and I complied because I enjoyed it. I liked him telling me what to do in the bedroom and the bites of pain that came along with it.

Shaking my head I forced my thoughts back to the present.

I would be meeting his family when we reached Cape Town and it scared me. I was scared they wouldn’t like me, that they would think I was too young for him.

So many fears I could do nothing about.

All I could do was tell myself it will be okay.

He fastened my seatbelt as we approached the airport but his mind was busy with something else. I could see it in his eyes and the way he had shut down.

My heart raced as we landed then taxied to where we would deplane. Glancing out the porthole I saw several black cars with dark tinted windows parked and waiting for us.

Dominick leant over me and, once again, undid my seatbelt then took my hand and pulled me up. Holding my hand he led me to the open door and down the steps. Men in dark suits stood waiting, carefully scanning the area.

Stuart and Luke walked behind us while Bone and another guy, whose name I forgot, walked in front.

We were quickly shuffled into the middle vehicle and left the airport fast. Scenery flashed past so quickly I hardly got to see anything, I did try though.

Driving through the city we went slower and I caught glimpses of the ocean and the magnificent mountain guarding the city below it. There were a couple of fluffy clouds drifting over the flat top and I decided it would be where I would go first.

The cars turned down several streets and then down into a basement garage. It pulled up outside a lift being held open by another black suited man.

My door opened and a hand reached in to help me out. I looked up into Stuart’s face but his eyes weren’t on me, they were scanning, the same as the other men.

I was hustled into the lift and stood against the mirrored back wall where Dominick joined me. He took my hand in his but didn’t say a word.

We rode up in silence.
